Professor Yan obtained his PhD from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden in 1991. He was Chair Professor and Head of Energy Department at Luleå University of Technology and Chair Professor at the Mälardalen University and KTH and Director of the Future Energy Profile. He is now Chair Professor of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is Editor in Chief of Advances in Applied Energy. He is an active member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
